I use the lights in small spaces - gigs in a gallery and in an old chapel - so I don't need a huge amount of power - these give me enough to add atmosphere and to highlight the performers. View the manual for the Stairville PAR56 10mm here, for free. Without the controller you can't raise and dim the lights, but you can have basic control over the RGB through the dip switches. All I need is to be able to change the RGB balance and raise and dim the light which is easily done through the controller. They can be used individually with the dip switches, but I've also got a small controller (Stairville DDC 6 DMX) which has basic control, and some dmx leads to connect the lights so I have more control during a gig. I don't go in for flashing lights or music controlled lights but those functions are there. The dip switch system is easy enough to use.
